To be able to work both at college and home on the same software I decided to purchase a 2 in 1 laptop where all work can be carried out and any power intensive tasks could be carried out on my desktop. The laptop is equipped with a touchscreen that is pen compatible. I am used to doing my work using a third party attachment that allows for touch input with a pen (Wacom intuos), this has no Screen on it and works like a laptop track pad, so I assumed the transfer to a pen to screen laptop would be very smooth. I was wrong.
The laptop pen I have (which I made sure to purchase the top of the line one from the same company as my previous pen) has no sensitivity settings and minimal customisation, which means I have to learn shortcuts and hand gestures for the programs I will be using. The lines end up coming out very bold, and in order to add sharpness I have to add and remove with the eraser tools. With practice i hope to be able to produce the same work as with my old equipment, but for now i will have to go over pencil sketches until i get the hang of it.
